Investment

Choosing therapy is a powerful act of care—for yourself, your child, and your family. It’s more than a service; it’s an investment in emotional health, stronger relationships, and lasting change. We provide in-person specialized mental health support for children, parents, and families in Surprise, Arizona and surrounding areas. Virtual services are available across Arizona.

Why We Use the Word “Investment”

When you commit to therapy, you're not only addressing challenges in the present—you’re also laying the foundation for a healthier, more connected future. Just like investing in education, physical health, or financial well-being, investing in your emotional and relational health brings returns that are deep, lasting, and life-changing.

Therapy can help:

  • Strengthen parent-child bonds

  • Build emotional regulation skills in young children

  • Heal from postpartum and parenting stress

  • Break generational cycles

  • Cultivate confidence, resilience, and connection

We honor the courage it takes to invest in yourself and your family in this way.

Why Some Families Choose Not to Use Insurance

While insurance can help make therapy more affordable, many families intentionally choose to pay privately—and for good reason. Here are some of the key benefits of not using insurance for therapy:

  • When you use insurance, your therapy records—including your diagnosis and treatment details—become part of your permanent medical file and are accessible to the insurance company. Private pay offers more control over your personal information and keeps your mental health care truly confidential.

  • Most insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis to approve therapy sessions. For children especially, assigning a clinical diagnosis may not always be developmentally appropriate or necessary. With private pay, we can focus on growth and support—not labels.

  • Insurance often limits the number of sessions you can have or requires justification to continue care. When you pay privately, you decide how long therapy continues and what goals we work toward—based on what’s best for you and your child, not what’s covered.

  • With private pay, we aren’t restricted by what insurance will or won’t authorize. This means:

    • We can meet more frequently during times of need

    • We can include parenting support, dyadic sessions, or play-based approaches without jumping through hoops

    • We can prioritize developmental needs and relational healing—especially important for young children and families

  • Insurance billing often involves delays, denied claims, and administrative stress. With private pay, scheduling and payment are simple, transparent, and streamlined—so you can focus on your healing, not the paperwork.

Private Pay Can Be an Empowering Choice

Paying out-of-pocket for therapy can feel like a bigger commitment, but for many families, it offers peace of mind, more freedom, and better alignment with their values. It’s an investment in your child’s future and your family’s well-being—on your terms.

If you’d like to talk through your options, we’re happy to help you decide what’s best for your situation.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. A Million Little Wonders LLC requires clients to keep a card on file for the duration of treatment services. I will accept exact-amount cash at the time of service, as a backup method of payment.

I also accept Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) as payment.

Insurance

IN-NETWORK: I’ve partnered with Alma and Headway to accept select in-network insurance.

In-network insurance claims will be billed by the provider; however, it is very important that you call your insurance company to explore your mental health benefits, extent of coverage, and client rights and responsibilities, including financial responsibility. Both Alma and Headway will check for eligibility and provide an estimate; however, I strongly recommend you verify eligibility and expected costs with your insurance company and not solely rely on Alma or Headway.

NOTE: All services (including therapy sessions or other services, such as third-party consultations or team meetings and providing letters or written reports to a third party) NOT COVERED/or DENIED by insurance benefits will be billed at our hourly rate.

OUT-OF-NETWORK

I have partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

See if you qualify: https://mentaya.co/checkbenefits/amillionlittlewonders

Mentaya is perfect if you:

- Have out-of-network benefits

- Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance

- Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement.

- Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

Here's how it works:

1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/amillionlittlewonders

2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.

3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.

4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

I cover the 5% fee per claim Mentaya charges, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.

Cancellation Policy

Requests to re-schedule or cancel a session must be made AT LEAST 48 hours IN ADVANCE as we have reserved this time especially for you. This is also to be fair to other individuals and families wanting to book sessions in consideration of the fact that I have a limited number of available sessions each week. If you do not re-schedule or cancel a session at least 48 hours in advance or no-show a session, you will be charged a late cancellation/no-show fee based on hourly rate.
